Church Leaders Cruise Inspiration Track

By Brent Summerhill, Inspiration Track speaker for the Church Leaders Cruise

The Church Leaders Cruise will give church and lay leaders an opportunity to get away from daily pressures and relax, refresh, and renew physically and spiritually.

The Inspiration Track of the 2018 Church Leaders Cruise is all about encouragement. Every church leadership experience is different and yet similar. While our locations, cultures, and demographics will vary, we all have a calling upon our lives and a passion for Christ, his gospel, and his church. And in some way at some time we all face discouragement as we pursue that passion. Together we will learn from God’s Word how to see the onset of discouragement, understand its impact not only on our ministry but also on our families, and find the encouragement we all need to serve Jesus and his church.

I have served as a pastor for 26 years. For 23 years, I served a church in Cabot, Arkansas. I was blessed to be there as the Lord grew the young church both spiritually and numerically. Over two decades I experienced life as a “small church” pastor and as a “senior pastor.” The calling never changed, but the expectations, both from others and myself, did. In 2014, after a season of reflection and renewed surrender, the Lord brought me to First Baptist Magnolia (Arkansas), an established church with new challenges and expectations. Through the years, the Lord has allowed me to see and experience ministry from different perspectives including involvement in global missions, teaching in church leadership seminars, and preaching at pastor and missionary conferences. This ministry journey has not been a solo ride, though. Cindy and I have been married for over 30 years. We were blessed with two wonderful children who are now “grown and gone.” I cannot imagine doing what I do without my family.

The motivation to do what I do is the gospel. People are fickle and circumstances are fluid. The gospel is unchanging. And the need for the gospel is constant. The gospel is the hope for sinners. The gospel is the compelling motive for church leadership, whether as a vocational ministry or a volunteer.

Join me in the Inspiration Track of the Church Leaders Cruise, which will provide renewal as we find encouragement together through God’s Word, prayer, and fellowship. I encourage all church leaders, whether you are vocational, bi-vocational, or volunteer, to join us.
